Why Study Here?
Why study the Bible at Freed-Hardeman University? The answer lies in the school’s timeless motto, Teaching how to live, and how to make a living. FHU enjoys a rich heritage of preparing her students for both life and eternity. In addition to providing a program of excellence for training in ministry, each full-time student enrolls in a Bible class every semester, focusing on preparation in character as well as for a career.
As for ministry in churches of Christ, Freed-Hardeman graduates are serving congregations in all fifty states and in many countries. For example, outstanding pulpit ministers include Jeff Jenkins (class of 1981) of Lewisville, Texas, who also serves on FHU’s Board of Trustees, Jason Moon (class of 1998) of Plano, Texas, Jason Jackson (class of 1992) of Stockton, California and Andrew Phillips (Class of 2003) of Columbia, TN.
On the mission field, a new congregation has been planted in Cusco, Peru by FHU graduates Matt Cook, Barton Kizer, and Gary Reaves (all from the class of 2003). They are an example of numerous mission teams that have formed on our campus and taken the gospel message “into all the world.” We are equally proud of our graduates in youth ministry, including those who have served thirty years, like Tim Frizzell of Nashville (class of 1980) and Jerry Elder of Spring Hill, Tennessee (class of 1983).
