Henderson, Tennessee – (July 12, 2024) – For the sixth consecutive year, Freed-Hardeman University nursing students from the Henderson cohort have achieved a 100% first-time pass rate for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). FHU’s full nursing program has consistently achieved pass rates above the national average since 2019.
“I am thankful for the Nursing faculty we have and their continued efforts to provide a quality learning experience, both in the classroom and in a clinical setting, that has led to such good outcomes,” Department of Nursing Chair Dr. Christopher White said.
“Additionally, I am thankful for the quality of students we have been blessed with and their dedication throughout the Nursing program, as well as their commitment to NCLEX success. The NCLEX first-time pass rate is a noteworthy benchmark, and we are proud of that. However, along with preparing our students for success in that area, we are also very proud of the quality of our outcomes in providing communities and employers with RNs that have good character, demonstrated competence, compassion for others and an ability to critically think and lead as they provide high quality healthcare to those in need,” White added.
While as yet unofficial from the state’s perspective, FHU’s 2024 pass rates for the full nursing program, which also includes graduates from the final cohort of FHU-Dickson, are expected to be an impressive 97%.
Dr. C.J. Vires, FHU provost and vice president of academics, praised this remarkable achievement. “The high passing percentages reflect the university’s continued pursuit of academic excellence,” he said. “Our Henderson cohorts have actually achieved a 100% pass rate for the past six years! Congratulations to these students on achieving these successes and to the faculty who prepared them.”
