FHU’s Inaugural Equip Ministry Camp Trains Young Men for Future Ministry
Henderson, Tennessee – (June 20, 2024) – For 19-year-old Tucker Cates of Durant, Oklahoma, it was an experience that he described as “one of the best weeks of my life.” With future plans to serve the Lord full-time through ministry work, Cates was thrilled to take part in a unique opportunity to learn from faithful Christian men who had plenty of wisdom, knowledge and professional advice to share.
FHU Spring Commencement Honors Graduates, Looks to the Future
Henderson, Tennessee – (June 14, 2024) – Freed-Hardeman University conferred 377 degrees upon a talented group of students during FHU’s 154th commencement exercises Saturday, May 11, 2024. In addition to the 274 bachelor’s degrees, 11 associate degrees, two education specialist degrees, 81 master’s degrees and nine doctorates were also awarded.

Henderson, Tennessee — (May 3, 2024) — In just 10 years, a cohort that began as 14 students has grown to more than 80 who are thriving in challenging college-level courses with the dual enrollment partnership between Freed-Hardeman University and Chester County Schools. The event highlighted the annual poetry contest where computer science major Lou Joseph was awarded first place for his submission, “Mother.” His poem poignantly captures the emotional turmoil of leaving Haiti, and adjusting to life in the United States.
FHU Research Group, Memphis Collaborators Published in Journal of Chemical Physics
Henderson, Tennessee — (May 23, 2024) — One of Freed-Hardeman University’s research groups, along with researchers at the University of Memphis, were recently published in the Journal of Chemical Physics for their paper, “Plasmonic Couplings in Ag (gold) – Au (silver) Heterodimers,” which examined how the metals influence each other and transfer energy. A Beam of Tradition and Progress as Freed-Hardeman University Marks a Major Milestone with Historic Topping Out Ceremony
Henderson, Tennessee – (May 14, 2024) – In a ceremonial act rich with history and community spirit, Freed-Hardeman University marked a significant construction milestone this week. The final steel beam – signed by students, faculty, staff, local dignitaries and neighbors – was hoisted into place atop the new Jones Family Dining Hall, soon to house a Chick-fil-A® restaurant. This beam represents not just the completion of a structure but the strengthening of community bonds and the university’s enduring commitment to growth and service. FHU President David R. Shannon opened the ceremony by thanking God, as the builder of all things, for providing the blessing to celebrate. The dining hall is expected to be completed by November 2024 and will open in January 2025.
Freed-Hardeman University’s Honors Students Experience the Culture of New Orleans

The trip was offered as an educational experience to Honors Council members as well as senior students in the Honors College.
